What defines early classic amplifier tones? Well now it’s the Keeley 1962.
The Keeley 1962 Amp in a Box – British Overdrive
We all know the power of British made black and gold amplifiers. Powerful, crunchy, classic. Now take the incredible tone of a blues breaker and wrap a Keeley Katana circuit around both sides of it and you have the Keeley 1962! Yeah, it’s heavy, cutting, the very definition of classic British Overdrive.
Layers of Gain
Layering gain sounds is one of the most tried and true ways of getting a deep rich tone. A tone that has a smoothness to it, has sustain to it. It let’s you sing! That’s exactly what we’ve done here in this hybrid of circuits. We’ve taken one of the most popular boosters out there, the Katana, and split it in half. Using both JFETs like valves in a British amp, we create pre-amp and output tube distortions characteristics.
Hand Built and Crafted
This unit is crafted from precision components and workmanship. Even the surface mount JFET transistors are placed and soldered by hand. A very low noise op-amp was selected for this tone-tool. You’ve come to expect brilliance from Keeley pedals, this one delivers. It sparkles with life and energy, but doesn’t have the noise that takes away from that clarity. This ain’t a tube screamer! But it sure as heck goes well with one! Want a dual overdrive system? Take our Red Dirt and couple it with this monster. Flat out heavy guitar tones and then click on the Red Dirt for that mid-focused saturation…infinite sustain territory. That kind of love comes from the guys and girls at Keeley that make it their life to create fine musical instruments. Keeley engineered effects are tools that you can depend on and make music with.

Keeley 1962 Overdrive Instructions
Recently I purchased a B-stock 1962 pedal from proguitarshop.com on a whim. I had never had one of your pedals before and thought why not. Funnily enough, when I had an instagram, I left a comment on the design of the pedal when you were asking people which design to go with and I said the black with the keeley logo from the white and that’s what you guys ultimately went with. I have to say though, you guys could have painted it with the most embarrassingly fowl paint scheme and I would gladly have it on my board! Holy crap does that pedal sound incredible! I am absolutely blown away! I have had pedals from a lot of different companies ranging from awful (cough beringer cough…Don’t judge I was young)to vintage boxes, to boutique hand built high dollar boxes, and this by far is the best sounding pedal I have ever owned. The way that it delivers the tone in my head is flawless and I couldn’t be happier. I wrote a glowing review of it on Proguitarshop.com today and I will be going on other sites to do the same as soon as they approve it and I can copy and paste it (I forgot to copy it initially). I just wanted to thank you for doing such awesome work and to let you know that I am a major fan of what you guys do. I will definitely be picking up more of your guys products as income allows. You guys are awesome! And again thank you!
